Nail Fungus Infections: Misunderstood And Frustrating
When I first developed a nail fungus infection around 5 years ago I didn’t realize how much misunderstanding existed about the disease. I also didn’t realize how difficult it was going to treat.
The first indication of infection was a yellow discoloration appearing on the tip of my left big toenail. I basically ignored it as it wasn’t painful at all. But over time I noticed the yellow discoloration spreading down one side of my nail towards the cuticle. I also noticed that my nail surface was becoming roughened and slightly distorted.
It was then that I started to actively research treatment. I wish I had done so earlier as I would’ve been more quickly free of the infection had I started treatment when only a small part of my nail was affected.
I was scared away from using oral antifungal drugs – even though they have been shown in studies to be effective – because of the widespread reports of adverse side effects.
So I started treatment using a topical nail fungus solution known as Zetaclear which has undecylenic acid as its main anti-fungal agent. At first I was rather ad hoc when it came to application. I would be consistent for a week or so but then would stop for a couple of weeks.
This set me back a great deal. It’s not the way to effectively treat a toenail fungus infection.
It was only when I upped my determination levels and began to repeatedly apply the treatment on a twice daily basis that I started to see some success.
